Reading Symphony Junior String Orchestra

Established in 2000, the Reading Symphony Junior String Orchestra (RSJSO) is a developmental ensemble for advanced fourth through eighth grade string students of Berks County and surrounding areas, serving as a training ground for the Reading Symphony Youth Orchestra (RSYO). Under the baton of Brian Mishler, the 40+ member orchestra performs at least four times annually, demonstrating a wide variety of repertoire ranging in styles and difficulty. The Reading Symphony Junior Strings Orchestra has received superior ratings for the past several years for their performances at the Music in the Park Festivals in Dorney Park.

Bryan Sanguinito

Maestro Bryan Sanguinito is honored to serve as the new Conductor of the Reading Symphony Junior String Orchestra, fulfilling a career-long dream.  He began teaching in 1997, establishing and developing the 4th – 12th grade string orchestra program in the Nazareth School District before moving in 2003 to teach grades 4 – 9 in the Reading School District.   Bryan is a published composer of educational string orchestra music, with companies such as Grand Mesa Strings, C. Alan Publishing, DogSmile Music, LudwigMasters Publications, TUX People’s Music, and Randall Standridge Music.   Several of his more than three dozen compositions and arrangements have been chosen as Editors' Choice selections by J.W. Pepper, where Bryan was named My Score Composer of the Month for March 2024.

Bryan’s music has received world premiere presentations by the American International School in Vienna, Austria, and has been performed at the prestigious Midwest Clinic International Band and Orchestra Festival, as well as at the American String Teachers Association National Conference.  His music has also been featured at honors festivals throughout the nation.

Bryan has shared his innovative approaches for teaching middle school orchestra students as a clinician with Zeswitz Music and with the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA).  He is also a contributor to Dr. Michael Francis Smith's "Learn to Play" method series.  

A proud Pennsylvania public school teacher, Bryan is the former president of both the Reading Education Association (REA) and the Eastern Region of the Pennsylvania State Education Association (PSEA).  He is a 1997 graduate (cum laude) of Millersville University and pursued additional studies with the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.

Bryan and his wife, Laura, live in Ephrata (PA), and are happy cat parents. They thoroughly enjoy traveling as often as possible (especially to sunny locations), exercising, playing trivia, and discovering new places to visit and foods to try.
