Stu Cohn Living Legacy

“LET YOUR LEGACY BE MUSIC

– Dr. Stuart Cohn

Dr. Stuart Cohn

January 1, 1942 – September 15, 2025

It is with profound sadness that the Reading Symphony Orchestra notes the passing of Dr. Stuart Cohn, a long-time supporter, friend, and former member of our Board of Directors.

Stu’s passion for music and his belief in the power of the arts led him to help establish the Dr. Stuart and Carol Cohn Living Legacy Fund over this past summer. In founding this fund, Stu generously pledged $60,000 in matching gifts to encourage others to support the Orchestra’s endowment. He understood that the long-term strength of any nonprofit, and especially the Symphony, depends upon the vitality of its endowment. As an endowment is a restricted fund, the principal is preserved and invested, and only the earnings from that investment are used to support the organization year after year.

Stu was deeply excited about the potential of this fund and looked forward to sharing its vision with the community he loved. Dr. Cohn’s legacy lives on through music. By supporting the Living Legacy Fund, you honor his passion and help secure the long-term vitality of the Reading Symphony Orchestra.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Carol and the entire Cohn family as we honor Stu’s remarkable legacy and lasting devotion to music in our community.

Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of Dr. Stuart and Carol Cohn, every donation to the Reading Symphony Orchestra Endowment Fund will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $60,000.

Your gift to the RSO’s Endowment Fund not only secures the future of music in our community—but, thanks to Stu and Carol, is now matched dollar-for-dollar to make twice the impact.

This is your moment to multiply the power of your generosity and ensure world-class orchestral music thrives in Reading for generations to come.
